Will Jimmy Graduate?

SimJim: The University Years, part 3

Jimmy Jr. steps headlong into his junior year and the end of innocence...

Jimmy Jr. began his junior year at La Fiesta Tech after making it through the end of Sophomore year by the skin of his teeth. The razor's edge between responsibility and a good college experience seemed to be teetering towards the oblivion of bubbles and juice barrels.

Thankfully, Jimmy Jr. was moving up the social ladder. Strangely enough, Jimmy seems to want little to do with the carnal woohooings of the opposite sex (or same, if he's into that), but is intent on forcing friendships on the various people in school. This is fine and dandy, especially when socializing enough to take care of his fun and social requirements while moving down the road to aspiration and influence. The influence is especially important to someone as scholastically unmotivated as our Jimmy. You see, he doesn't have to do any work as long as he maintains that influence by throwing parties or completing other aspiration goals.

He simply needs to take that precious resource and spend it on unsuspecting souls that can't resist his wily charm. Or maybe it's his frightening face.... Either way, not having to personally write a term paper or do any assignments means Jimmy can play all day. The question is what to do in his spare time. Should he lounge by the local pool? Maybe he should practice guitar (he's gotten quite a bit better over his college career)? Perhaps sit down for some good old fashioned bubble blowing. It doesn't really matter, his time is his.

One of the first orders of business for junior year was to throw a party in honor of himself. The decor had to be complete with that new bubble blower, the juice barrel from before, and plenty of balloons, which the four sims had managed to scrounge together. Jimmy had a few friends outside of the house, so they were invited and soon people had come over and were having what looked to be a good time. There was much bubble blowing, guitar playing, dancing, laughing, pranking when all of the sudden, a cow came running in the door.

Having the school pride necessary to be a full fledged llama (not a donkey as was originally thought), it was easy to see that this was the rival school's mascot. Jimmy was quick to act with a preemptory slap to the face, er, mask. After crying in the corner for a minute, the cow then moved to the dance floor where it ran smack into Erik, the La Fiesta Tech Llama mascot. It was like a scene from Clash of the Titans as these heavyweights immediately started brawling in the middle of the party. Blood and fur flew across the room for a minute or so until the llama kicked the cow in the ass and sent it sprawling across the floor. The cow quickly jumped up and ran out in shame.

While it seems that this kind of a party would be a rousing success, apparently it was not planned well enough for it was rated a snoozer by the party gods. No one seemed upset by it, and moved on.

When the truck pulled up the next morning, everyone was quite surprised to see the frowning face glowering on the exterior. Out stepped the repo-man. Payments were late and the bank was collecting. In he came with his nasty repo-ray and took back an appliance and lamp, neither of which had been purchased by my sims. Thank you repo-man, though we do miss the garbage disposal.

The bubble blower left over from the party was becoming quite popular. Not only were people up using it at all hours, but classes had been missed in favor of the shiny floating baubles of soap and water. Jimmy sat and used whenever he could. Marie was goofy for the stuff. Jimmy even looks violent when others used the apparatus. To get the crew away from their addiction, I had them move to the swimming pool to improve their lagging physiques. Upon their return, Chuck collapsed from exhaustion, having blown too many bubbles the night before. Poor Chuck immediately peed himself when he awoke, much the amusement of one lucky bystander.

Meanwhile, a pile of trash had been building. Quietly it lay, striking the heart of any sim nose that dared enter its domain. Causing wretching, much complaining, and eventually an army of roaches. Such temptation could not be denied and soon scurrying creatures were everywhere leaving several sims freaked, including poor Chuck who simply faced a wall and cried... right before he caught the flu. The roaches brought the plague with them and soon all of the sims except for Marie was infected with the ick. All had to take it easy and rest. The exterminator was called, and all was put right. The trash was cleaned up. In the midst of sickness, love was brewing. Only it was brewing between Delilah and Marie. One faulty suggestion sent both of them falling headlong into hearts. Before too long, the two were smooching and happy. Too bad Marie has never looked up monogamy in the dictionary. Chuck was also wooed by the temptress and then a third, Jan, was brought into a tangled web of lust and love inside one puny little dorm. It was inevitable, but Delilah caught Marie and Jan flirting and was more than a little upset, coming back to slap Marie silly. Her heart was broken. Marie kept kissing Jan anyway. Marie rocks.

As the days went by, Jimmy continued to use the SimVac on unsuspecting souls, Delilah and Marie began to repair their broken love (while Marie kept kissing Jan behind her back), and Erik the llama mascot started an endless jam session in the front room. We're not sure whether he's taken too much speed or what, but he's been there for quite a while. Jimmy moved on to his senior year of school, still refusing to move out from the dorms and seek greater pastures.

Will Jimmy Jr. be able to graduate and move into the "real world" and be successful? Or will he slide down the slippery slope of bubble addiction that once claimed his father? Check back tomorrow to find out.
