I'm a bit late. Got the press release on 30th August but I was really busy with work and the Hidden Springs review.

Now Available For Purchase New Adventure Pack For The Sims Medieval Brings Epic Story, Treasure Hunting, Birds and More!

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Gather your doubloons. The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced today that The Sims Medieval™: Pirates and Nobles is now available across North America. The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles is an adventure pack to The Sims Medieval*, a new series that places the popular simulated characters from The Sims into the Middle Ages and lets players create heroes, venture on quests and control a kingdom. The adventure pack includes a new storyline, additional quests and one new Kingdom Ambition for players to embark on in their medieval kingdoms.

"We set out to take advantage of the great questing feature of the base game and with The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles tell an epic story complete with adventure, drama romance, a royal wedding, a courtroom scene and more," said Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio. "It's a kind of storytelling that you won't see in any other Sims game. On top of that we added some great new features, including treasure hunting, interrogation, and pet parrots and falcons."

Players can unleash their inner swash-buckling pirate or regal noble by creating a new Hero Sim or customizing their existing medieval Sim with new clothing and accessories. They begin the epic adventure by choosing a side — pirate or noble — and then the adventure is up to them for how it plays out. They can battle an enemy in a sword fight or explore the exciting new gameplay feature of treasure hunting. Players will have to find hidden objects and search for desirable rewards that will benefit their Sim's quests. Additionally, players embark on exhilarating quests such as finding the fountain of youth, protecting the kingdom from an evil sorcerer, or engaging in a forbidden love affair. Once the story is finished, they can replay the story choosing different quests and see what ending they'll get the next time around.

New to the adventure pack, The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles bring birds in a variety of colors and species into the medieval world as lovable, or not so lovable, sidekicks. Players can own a falcon or parrot that they can use to hunt, train, feed, or even send on missions. If one finds that they are unhappy with a rival, parrots can also be sent to do some dirty work and attack the Sim for them. Another useful gameplay feature is the interrogation chair. Players who are looking for more information out of a fellow Sim will find the new item quite useful. The interrogation chair can be used to persuade their enemies to spill their deepest secrets and help players move forward in their quests and Kingdom Ambition. With The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles, the new adventures to explore are endless.

The Sims Medieval is rated T for Teen by the ESRB. To download artwork, please visit www.info.ea.com. For more information about The Sims Medieval please visit www.info.ea.com, or the official website at www.piratesandnobles.com.

The Sims 3 Hidden Springs

I finally finished the Hidden Springs review! It's mostly informative, but that's what some of the visitors asked for so, I hope you enjoy it! Click read more below to start reading!

Recently I got the new Hidden Springs world and I was eager to install and play this new addition to my game! EA had asked me to write a little something about Francesca Vanderburg, so I did! But, there's so much more to write about. That's why I decided to write a (mostly informative) review about the new world! I'll show you all the new families and households, their homes and community lots!

Families & Households

Let's start with the Vanderburg family. Catarina Vanderburg comes from a long line of rich Sims. She married Renauld. Catarina has two children; Sebastian and Francesca. But they are not Renauld's kids. When looking at the family tree, we cannot seem to find the real father. Catarina and Renauld live in a large home. Their home is called Vanderburg Palace. Both Catarina and Renauld have reached the top of the politics career. Son Sebastian who still lives at home, has a job in Law Enforcement. The story in the game is that Catarina wants her kids to live up to the Vanderburg name. However son Sebastian won't move out and won't get a serious relationship, while daughter Francesca "the princess" has run away from home.

Francesca Vanderburg seems to be having some issues with her mom, she has moved out to The Hideout, a small cabin home near the edge of Hidden Springs. Francesca can enjoy her rustic and nature friendly life out there. She is active in the Journalism career.

Across the Vanderburg family lives the Cho family. Their estate is called Seaside Mansion and it's bright yellow. Happy colors! Simon Cho is the head of the household. He has a job in the Business career. His wife is called Alisha and she works in the music industry. They have two children. Davy is the oldest, a boy (child) and then there's Minzi, a (toddler) girl.

Near the edge of Hidden Springs lives Louis Swete in his Solitary Haven. Louis works in the Law Enforcement career. He doesn't look so healthy... A bit green and he has a lot of issues, especially with Emmaline Rhoen, one of the neighbors.

Emmaline Rhoen works in the Medicine career. Emmaline Rhoen is also green and lives in the Rustic Living home. She's a bit crazy, but then, aren't we all?

It seems being green is a common thing in a certain area of Hidden Springs, because the Shue family also lives here, and some of these family members are green as well. The Shue family consists of Granny, an elder woman with green skin and grey hair. According to the bio, she never got children of her own, so she adopted a bunch of them; Dany, Carlotta, Star and Gary. They are a happy family at the Shue Place, which is what their house is called. Granny works in the Culinary career.

You'll be able to find the Free Spirit household somewhat up the hill. The Free Spirit household consists of Nicholas Riverhawk, Cassidy Earthsong and Jessica Willow. Nicholas is active in the Journalism career, Cassidy works at the hospital and Willow is in the army. Their home is called Sustainable Oasis. It's a lovely home.

Ryan Anderson is one of the many singles in Hidden Springs. He lives in a nice house up the hill. He works in the journalism career and his place is called Cozy Cabin!

Madeline Moore also lives up the hill. She inherited a lot of money from her grandma, however she already spent most of it. Madeline works in the Science career and she lives in her Naturally Simplistic home. Quite a lovely home too!

Hector Mendoza was a child star once. Now he has moved up the hill to live a quiet life in the Woodsmen's Getaway. Hector is active in the Music industry.

Anna Menon is a true style guru, you can spot her a mile away, with her bright outfit. She same goes for her house, which is called the Style Center. Her house is pink. Really pink. Despite the fact that she looks like she's a stylist, she's actually active in the Journalism career.

Laila Al Fahad has a career in Medicine. She seems like a strong independent woman. She is the personal doctor to the wealthy Sims. Her home is called Classically Lovely.

The Ruiz family has a strange story. Carly Ruiz, the nanny, was with the children one day and the parents just never returned. It doesn't say who these supposed parents are. Also, when you take a look at the family tree, you will see that Carly Ruiz is actually the mom of kids Emmit Preston (teen boy) and Jake Preston (child boy). Either way, the parents have left them a lovely home called the Perfect Family Home. Carly Ruiz works in the Athletics career.

Pierce Shawkti and his daughter Sidney Shawkti live in the Comfort Central home. Mom's missing, but the two seem to get along without mom just fine. Pierce has an Athletics career and Sidney is still in school.

Liam O'Dourke moved from Sunset Valley to Hidden Springs. He looks like a true geek. Or perhaps *dork* is a better term here. Wink Liam works at the Science facility. And he lives in his Just Enough Bungalow.

The Winterly family is another rich family. Peter Winterly is a Business man, Adele Winterly works in the army and Charles, their son, is still a teen. They supposedly moved to Hidden Springs hoping their sick Charles would recover here. I think moving did the trick. The family lives at Ponderosa Place.

Gabriella Ornales is a widow, and she works as a politician. Her place is called Traditional Chic.

The Song family seems a bit odd to me. Andrew Song looks like your average doctor, so nothing weird there. But his wife Jewel... I don't see the match here. Jewel looks so evil! And she has a job in the Crime career. They do seem happy though, in The Treasure Trove.

Song Family

Bert Alto reminded me of the Alto family from Sunset Valley. I'm pretty sure he's related to them! Bert has a criminal career. And he lives in the Charming in Blue home.

Ian Nali loves sports, and he also has an athletic career. He's looking sassy and sporty with his striped track suit pants. Ian lives at the Bachelor's Paradise. He's still single. Will you find him the perfect partner?

Ian Nali

The girls in the Debutante household have moved in The Fun House. They are frenemies, whatever that means. They have been friends for a long time. Will their friendship survive their choice to move in together? Jenny Lho is in the army. Blake Grayson has a bit of a criminal record...

Debutante Household

The Chesterfield family consists of only men. Dad Bruce is a responsible man and works in the Law Enforcement career. His two teen sons Dennis and Scott are both still in school. They live in the Ultimate Family Retreat.

The Colby family are hard working Sims. Christoff Colby is a Business man and Genevieve Colby works as a Politician. They live in their Newly Arrived Domicile.

The family living in the Craftsman Dream mansion is the Abbot family. Carl Abbot works in the Law Enforcement career. And Maya Abbot is a Business woman.

Abbot Family
The Sims 3 Hidden Springs The Sims 3 Hidden Springs The Sims 3 Hidden Springs

The final and perhaps also the funniest family is the Pertridge family. I didn't realize this before I had Hidden Springs, but the Pertridge family is pretty much a fairytale in a modern family. The mother, Lonnie, loves her own children. Astrid and Eunice also love their mother. However Lonnie seems to hate her stepdaughter Ella Carlisle. And lovely daughter Eunice is like her mom, she hates her step sister Ella. Fortunately for Ella, there is one person in that home who likes her, which is Astrid. Astrid doesn't seem to have a problem with anyone. Let's hope for Ella she grows up fast enough so she can move out. Living in a closet isn't that comfortable. In Pristine and Pretty there doesn't seem to be enough room for Cinderella, oops I meant Ella. Lonnie has a Culinary career, as does Ella. I wonder how that's working for them. Astrid is in the Music industry and Eunice is a Criminal Sim.

Pertridge Family
The Sims 3 Hidden Springs The Sims 3 Hidden Springs The Sims 3 Hidden Springs The Sims 3 Hidden Springs The Sims 3 Hidden Springs

Maybe it's just me. And I don't mean to say anything bad about Hidden Springs, because personally, I love it! But it looks like there are a lot of broken families in Hidden Springs. I just wonder why that is. Anyway, if this bothers you, you could always couple some of the families together, because there are plenty of singles in Hidden Springs! Or you could just add your own families! How will you play? Will you play with the premade families, or would you rather have your own?

Our Sims 3 Pets for PC preview is now online, click read more below to read! :woot:

So now you probably already know we were invited at the behind-closed-doors Sims presentation at the Gamescom. Graham Nardone gave us a lovely demo about The Sims 3 Pets on PC! Unfortunately, like I mentioned in my other articles as well, we were not allowed to take pictures, hence the lack of pictures in this article. I have used some pictures, but those are photos of artworks I took on the game floor itself.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

Something girls have been waiting for, for many years. Well not all girls. I have never asked for this but, MANY other girls have... There are horses in The Sims 3 Pets expansion pack! And the horses do look amazing, I have to admit this. Like the other pets, you can fully customize horses like you can customize Sims. You can choose the color of their hair, you can choose several mane styles - for example a mohawk, as well as the horses tail - a braided tail is especially awesome, there are several marking layers to play around with, there are patterns you can choose from and you can add figures to the horses body. You can rescale, reshape, recolor and rotate these shapes. So you can place them anywhere on the horses body. Besides all of this, you can adjust body parts and the way the body itself looks. So you can shorten the neck, or make it taller. And you can change the belly size. Stuff like that. Graham showed us a horse that looked like a Zebra (imagine that), but I'm sure you can also make a horse look like a mule or donkey. Wink It's truly amazing. I can see myself play around with this. I assume the other big pets like dogs and cats are also highly customizable like the horses. Basically you can create any kind of pet with the functions I mentioned above. And that's what will make your pets unique. A big deal in The Sims 3 Pets on PC is the fact that you can finally control the pets! The pets are not just added to the family. No, you can really take control of the pets and have them interact with Sims rather than only have the Sims interact with the pets. This is wonderful. We no longer need a cheat to be able to do this. You can see the life through the eyes of your pet. A whole new experience, which makes the game just more fun altogether! The pets now have motives, memories, they have their own bio and personality, they have their own opportunities and all that, but they don't have lifetime wishes. Other than that they are similar to Sims now, except that they're animal Sims and not human Sims.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

Obviously, since this is a pets expansion, there will be some animal loving traits for our Sims! A few examples of some of the new traits for Sims are dog lover, cat lover, horse lover, animal lover. And these special traits unlock social interaction when talking to other Sims. So your animal lover Sims can chat about animals with other Sims. There isn't an animal hater trait. Graham was very clear in this. Animals are innocent creatures, of course. And there will certainly not be something like animal abuse in the game, well there is neglecting the animals. If your pets do not take proper care of their pets, the social worker will come and take the animals away. There are no new careers for Sims in this expansion pack. And as far as the pet careers go, this is a console only feature. There are also no new deaths in this game, not for Sims, nor for pets. Pets can only die of old age. There are no pet related deaths for Sims.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

Besides the major pets - horses, dogs and cats - there are some minor pets. I have quite a list of these! There will be turtles, lizards, birds, rodents, snakes, guinea pigs and baby squirrels. No rabbits. Don't ask me why. Whatever animals there are in the game, Sims are never allergic to them. Pets can also have traits. After the closed demo I was able to see all the traits for dogs. Together with ChEeTaH from The Sims Zone and Wouter from Sunset Valley Times I translated and tweeted them live: adventurous, aggressive, pig, friendly, genius, hyperactive, hunter, noisy, neat, calm, loves swimming, shy, snob, loyal, independent, playful, afraid of water, destructive, easily afraid, and the last one I found particularly hard to translate... not destructive... errr... doesn't destruct things? Oh dear destruct just became a weird word for me. You get the idea. There are a lot of traits for pets. One more thing I should mention is that we tried translating the traits from German to English. And these will probably not all be the final English names of the traits.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

The new town in The Sims 3 Pets for PC is called Appaloosa Plains, I hope I spelled it correctly. It is a mid-western ranching style community neighborhood. And it's the perfect place for Sims with horses. Of course other pets will also love this place! The town also has a cat shaped lake/pond and a dog bone shaped pool. All pets love drinking water out of lakes, but only dogs can swim in the water. Pets can travel with other Sims or just on their own. Some pets can hop along in the taxi but it makes perfect sense this doesn't go for horses. You can however go places riding your horse and your Sim can also go for a walk with the dog. The new town has a lot of fresh content and there is lots to discover.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

One of the venues is the cat jungle. On this lot cats come together and play with each other, in and around the cat jungle gym. There is also a dog park, which is a social meeting place for dogs. But Sims can also go here to play with their dogs, play catch and so on. There are plenty of plains for horses to gallop around, but something special we've seen is the horse ranch. On this ranch Sims can practice skills with their horses. Such as the riding skill, racing skill and jumping skill. The training is done on a special track with cool obstacles Sims and their horses have to jump over. One of the obstacles includes fireworks, a Sim's behind can get burnt! You can also create your own race course. The skills are needed and can be used in different competitions, including show jumping and racing. You cannot bet on these races, however you can win cash prizes, trophies and even get your name in the local newspaper! Last but not least Sims can breed horses on the ranch, as well as buy and sell their horses.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

At your Sims homes, you can now build real barns with horse stables, since the team added actual barn doors and box stalls! Horses can use their box stalls to eat, drink, sleep, and if they really want to and have companion, woohoo in there! The competitions take place in rabbit holes, meaning we can't actually see the competition while it's happening. But we can see a score board during the competition. But the normal horseback riding can be done anywhere. And you can also train the horses at home.

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

Initially pets don't know any tricks and don't have any skills. From the moment they are part of your Sims households, you can train their behavior and teach them tricks. Dogs have a lot of tricks and they can learn. Cats however only have the hunting skill, they don't have any other tricks like dogs do. Sims and dogs can attend a tricks exhibition, where they can show the tricks to other Sims and earn money. One of the special skills dogs and cats have is the hunting skill. Graham mentioned (about dogs) that if they're really good at this skill, that they can even bring back a date for their Sim. Hahaha I'd like to see that happen! Usually each expansion pack in the Sims series has a special creature. In this expansion pack, it's the unicorn! Unicorns are magical, in case you didn't already know. The unicorn Graham showed us, was located at the edge of town. It looked all angelic and sweet at first. So sweet it instantly reminded me of the cuteness of My Little Pony, especially because of all the stars and hearts on the body. That was the good side of the unicorn. Good side lol. That side of the unicorn was colored bright white. Then Graham turned the camera around and the unicorn was devilish black, with red flames on its body and everything. That side of the unicorn was also a bit evil. The unicorn had a bit of an attitude! When the unicorn started to run, you could see a rainbow trail surrounded with sparkles. It's Nyan Unicorn! :P

The Sims 3 Pets at Gamescom

Unicorns are magical, they can start fires and drive Sims out of town, curse Sims so they'll have to endure mysterious woes and disaster. But then they can also bless Sims and let plants grow wherever they go! And, drum roll, unicorns can teleport! Unfortunately Graham didn't want to share with us how we can get a unicorn. So this will remain a secret until either someone from EA tell us, or even after the release when someone plays the game enough and finds out. Ahhh, too bad. Spoilers! Sims have new lifetime wishes, one of them is to add a unicorn to the household! As far as households go with pets. It's a bit complicated. As we all know, normal Sims households cannot contain more than 8 Sims. However, a Sims and pets household can be a total of 10. There cannot be more than 8 Sims, and there cannot be more than 6 pets. The limit in total of Sims and pets combined is always 10. So you could have a household of 8 Sims and 2 pets, or 6 Sims and 4 Pets. But 4 Sims and 6 pets is also a possibility.

Children - and therefore obviously also toddlers - cannot ride horses. Teens and older can. There are some friendly social interactions between the kids and pets, but I think this is mainly with dogs and cats. Oh and probably also the minor pets. The Limited Edition for The Sims 3 Pets on PC is obviously different from the regular edition. It has a special Pet Store where Sims can go to buy items - accessories and objects - for their pets. You won't be able to buy pets in the Pet Store though, as there will be plenty of other ways to get pets.

The game will be released on October 21st this year. I will most certainly buy it. I am going to pre-order the limited edition, as I usually do with the games! I would like to thank Graham Nardone for coming to Europe to the Gamescom to demo the new expansion pack. It's awesome! And I would like to thank EA for inviting me to the behind-closed-doors presentation. I really enjoyed it! Thanks!
